Test the route from menu to completed task
Test the path from the mobile menu to the actual service or industry page, including nested links. A desktop hover menu may look correct while disappearing before a touch user can choose an item.
A mobile menu can appear visually correct and still fail when a submenu closes between the trigger and its links, the panel cannot scroll or focus becomes trapped. Test real navigation sequences rather than only a screenshot of the open menu.
A worked example
A hypothetical service dropdown opens below a trigger with a small pointer gap. Moving toward an item dismisses it. Another mobile panel covers the close button after the keyboard opens. These are different failures and require different acceptance checks.
How to apply it
- Open each menu using touch and keyboard and follow its deepest relevant destination.
- Check panel scrolling, focus order, close behavior and visibility when the keyboard appears.
- Repeat after orientation or viewport changes and confirm that the destination actually loads.
What the result can establish
Record failed journeys by viewport, input method and route. The useful outcome is a navigable path to service information and inquiry, not simply a responsive breakpoint that exists in CSS. Recheck shared header templates so one repair is verified across affected pages.
