The next step should fit what the reader has just learned
Offer a next step that matches the question the article just helped answer. A direct sales-call invitation may be premature for a reader learning a basic definition.
An educational guide may support a related explanation, a sample report, an audit or a commercial conversation. Choose the next step according to the unresolved decision rather than placing the strongest sales request everywhere.
A worked example
A hypothetical reader learning the difference between clicks and sessions may need a measurement checklist before a consultation. A reader comparing implementation support may be ready to inspect done-for-you scope. The same CTA need not serve both tasks.
How to apply it
- State the reader’s likely remaining question after the answer.
- Choose one primary next destination that fulfills that question.
- Label the destination accurately and test it on narrow screens.
What the result can establish
Evaluate useful navigation and suitable inquiries separately. CTA clicks are intermediate behavior, not automatically leads. Avoid interrupting the answer with repeated requests that make the page harder to use.
