Follow the inquiry across the real handoff
Identify when visitors leave the main website to complete a meaningful action and review measurement continuity. A separate booking or form domain can obscure the original source if the journey is not deliberately configured.
A journey can begin on a marketing site and finish on a booking or application domain. Measurement continuity depends on control of both sides and the tools involved. A working handoff should be tested before interpreting reported conversion rates.
A worked example
A hypothetical booking journey appears as a new referral session on a vendor domain. The business may still receive a valid booking, while its analytics path is fragmented. That is a measurement problem distinct from a failed booking.
How to apply it
- Map every domain and identify where configuration is actually available.
- Test campaign context and accepted completion through the full redirect path.
- Use supported cross-domain configuration or a clearly limited alternative measurement.
What the result can establish
Do not claim full user continuity when the external provider does not expose it. Keep operational booking records as a separate source of completion evidence. Changing attribution settings does not create additional bookings.
