Match reporting depth to the decision window
Use weekly highlights for emerging changes and detailed monthly reports for a fuller performance review. Short updates and completed-period analysis support different decisions.
Weekly highlights help a team notice changes that may need attention now. A monthly review supports a more complete comparison of evidence, priorities and completed work. The shorter cadence should not pretend that an incomplete month is a completed one, or that every weekly fluctuation requires a strategy change.
A worked example
A hypothetical team notices that inquiries are lower by Friday. Before pausing a campaign, it checks whether the week includes a holiday and whether the intake feed is current. The monthly report later compares completed periods and documents the investigation. The weekly observation triggered a check; it did not establish a sustained decline.
How to apply it
- State whether the weekly figures are week-only observations or current period context.
- Escalate collection failures and broken inquiry paths promptly instead of waiting for a monthly meeting.
- Use the completed-month review to reconcile sources, evaluate assigned work and revise priorities.
