A company-level signal does not identify a ready buyer
Distinguish observed company-level visits from the criteria used to classify relevant intent. A visit alone does not prove a company is in-market or matches the ideal customer profile.
Company visits and intent signals can suggest accounts worth investigating, but their identity and meaning depend on the available evidence. They do not automatically identify an individual visitor, an active project or permission to contact someone.
A worked example
A hypothetical organization appears in both a website-visit signal and a topic-interest feed. These observations may justify research. They do not prove that a named executive visited or that the company is currently selecting a vendor.
How to apply it
- Keep the signal type, observation period and confidence context separate.
- Verify organization fit using approved public or authorized evidence.
- Distinguish research prioritization from an actual inbound inquiry.
What the result can establish
Never relabel every observed company as a qualified lead. Keep proprietary collection methods private, but describe inference limits honestly. Evaluate whether the signal improves useful prioritization rather than inflating the lead total.
