SEARCH TRAFFIC / ZERODARK INSIGHTS

Search Traffic vs Search Visibility Scores

Rankings describe where tracked terms appear; traffic describes observed discovery and visits.

Exposure and visits are different stages of discovery

Rankings describe where tracked terms appear; traffic describes observed discovery and visits. Strong positions for a small target set need not produce large traffic if demand or click behavior differs.

Search visibility describes whether a business appears for relevant searches; traffic describes observed arrivals or search clicks under a source’s definitions. A scoring system may assess them with different KPIs. The categories should not be expected to produce identical numbers.

A worked example

A hypothetical site gains relevant impressions but receives similar clicks. Visibility evidence improved while visit evidence remained stable. A useful review investigates position, snippets and query mix without forcing both categories to show the same trend.

How to apply it

  • Read the category definitions, targets and eligible evidence.
  • Compare raw source measures within their own units and periods.
  • Assign actions to the actual gap rather than the lowest-looking number alone.

What the result can establish

In SharkBlade, use the category rubric to interpret its score and the underlying KPIs to choose work. Matching category and Intelligence views should reflect the same assessment; different categories remain distinct. A score is not a direct percentage of all market demand.
