A B2B Organic Traffic Review in Five Questions

Review B2B organic traffic by connecting relevant queries, landing pages, visitor intent and verified inquiry paths.

Ask whether discovery is serving the business

An organic traffic review should explain what changed and whether the right people are reaching useful information. A larger total can be encouraging, but it can also reflect unrelated queries, seasonal interest or a changed mix of landing pages. Start with a comparable period, the relevant market and the services being evaluated. Review search evidence separately from on-site behavior before connecting the two. Search clicks and analytics sessions are different measures and do not always reconcile one for one.

Five questions for the review

Five questions for the review
Question Evidence to inspect Possible decision
Which relevant queries changed? Query-level impressions and clicks Clarify or expand a useful answer
Which pages received the visits? Search landing pages and analytics scope Improve the intended destination
Does the page satisfy that intent? Actual page content and next step Repair a mismatch rather than add another post
Can visitors complete the intended action? Form, booking and capture tests Address a broken or confusing path
What remains unproven? Collection and attribution limitations Record the missing check before claiming an outcome

A hypothetical change in query mix

Suppose impressions rise from 10,000 to 15,000 and clicks from 200 to 240. Click-through rate falls from 2% to 1.6%, even though clicks increased. If much of the new exposure comes from broad educational queries, the result may concern audience mix rather than a worse snippet. Now suppose relevant inquiries fall from 10 to nine. That small hypothetical change does not prove the extra content caused a decline. Inspect page intent, collection, seasonality and the inquiry path. The decision may be to improve the relevant service page rather than produce more broad articles.

Use the supported Search Traffic and Web Analytics evidence as context, while verifying the page and query detail available for the particular investigation. Do not assume an overall category score establishes an individual article’s contribution.

Record one testable next move

For a page receiving suitable visits but few inquiries, inspect whether the offer and contact path are clear. For an article attracting unsuitable queries, decide whether its purpose should be revised. For a useful page with little exposure, inspect discovery and internal links. Document the selected URL, baseline, change date and relevant measures. Revisit those measures over a suitable period, noting other changes that may affect interpretation. A publication calendar is easier to improve when the team can explain which buyer questions produce relevant attention and which remain unsupported. The SEO report example provides a reusable summary format. The internal-linking guide shows how to connect articles with the pages that serve a prospect’s next decision.
