Assign a destination to a buying task
Give each important search intent a primary destination before producing supporting articles. Several pages can compete for the same phrase while the actual service offer remains unclear.
A keyword map should connect a cluster of related queries with the page that can satisfy their shared purpose. It is not a requirement to create a separate URL for every phrase variation. Include the audience, offer and next step so the map guides content decisions rather than becoming an unreviewed spreadsheet.
A worked example
A hypothetical firm maps marketing reporting software to its platform page and monthly marketing report example to a practical guide. Sending both groups to a generic homepage loses the distinction between evaluating software and looking for a report structure.
How to apply it
- Group phrases by the decision a searcher is trying to make.
- Assign one preferred destination per shared intent and note useful supporting guides.
- Check that the destination actually delivers the promised answer and a relevant next step.
What the result can establish
Preserve keyword-research location, language, collection date and unknown estimates. A mapped keyword is a strategic hypothesis until search and conversion evidence can evaluate it. Success includes useful non-brand discovery and qualified inquiries, not only more mapped rows.
