Inbound evidence is the beginning of a sales process
Captured demand shows incoming evidence; pipeline stages require verified sales-process records. An identified visitor or submitted form should not automatically become a qualified sales opportunity.
A lead-capture dashboard can organize supported intake and visitor signals. A sales pipeline tracks commercial qualification and stage progression. A populated capture table is not proof of an equally populated opportunity pipeline.
A worked example
A hypothetical team captures 50 identifiable inquiries, accepts 15 for sales review and creates six opportunities. Each stage has a different rule. Calling the initial 50 opportunities overstates the evidence and obscures follow-up performance.
How to apply it
- Define the handoff from accepted inquiry to sales review.
- Keep signal-only records separate from direct requests and qualified opportunities.
- Reconcile later stages through the operational system that records them.
What the result can establish
SharkBlade supports marketing-intelligence review; it should not be presented as a complete CRM or financial ledger. Missing downstream evidence remains missing. Use stage definitions to identify where improvement is needed.
